A project which involved the restoration of Newark’s Old Magnus Buildings in Newark-on-Trent, to restore several buildings, including a Tudor Hall, a Georgian town house, a schoolroom and Victorian and Edwardian outbuildings, which were established as the Magnus School from the 1530’s to 1912.

Restored for use as a museum, these buildings became home to the National Civil War Centre, focusing on the English Civil War, with a range of permanent and temporary exhibition galleries and inspiring learning and community spaces.  The site also houses a local history gallery and is a pivotal part of Newark’s Civil War Trail, with strong linkages to other Civil War sites across the country.

HERA were appointed to act as Lead Project Monitor on behalf of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, advising on management, procurement, costs and cashlow, funding and long-term viability.
