The Globe is a prominent landmark in the town centre of Stockton; this Art Deco theatre, built in 1935 is Grade II listed, was until recently was on the Theatre Trust’s “Theatre Buildings at Risk Register”. Following the successful award of a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the theatre and adjacent 18th Century Georgian Shop, are to be fully restored.
Vacant since 1996 when the property closed as a bingo hall, work has now commenced to restore and conserve this historic building, to transform into a venue capable of hosting large scale live music and comedy events. The regeneration potential for the project is extensive; with the Globe envisaged to become a significant hub for the area, creating an opportunity for over 2,500 people to visit and contribute to the Stockton night-time economy.
HERA have been appointed to act as Lead Monitor on behalf of the National Lottery Heritage Fund during the Development and Delivery Phases of the project, advising on project management, procurement, costs and cashlow, funding and long-term viability.
